WALKS - A stretch of green and pleasant coast and countryside is never far away in Torbay.
Torbay is blessed with a superb array of natural features along its 22 miles of coastline; the steep slopes that tumble down to the broad sweep of the Bay; the cliffs and headlands that punctuate the coastline; the green valleys that cut down to the sea; and the Victorian gardens and landscape planting that set off these natural contours.
There are over 100 miles of footpaths and horse-riding routes criss-crossing Torbay.
The most popular walks include:
Walls Hill Walk 5km/3 m (accessible via the hotel's grounds)
The route follows two of Torbay's ribbon woodlands, up from sea level to the boundary of Torbay, and back down. On the way you will discover drystone walls overgown with ferns and trees, ancient wood-banks overhung with huge boundary trees and hazel coppice, flush with bluebells in spring.
Bishop's Walk - 4.5 km/3 m (accessible via the hotel's grounds)
An ever-changing coastal stroll along generally level ground, visiting Torbay's "other" limestone headland, Hope's Nose, the drama of Thatcher Rock and the hidden footpaths through Lincombe Woods to Kent's Cavern - ancient caves with signs of early human remains.
